Memory Verses / Joshua 2:10-11
10 We have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt and what you did to Sihon and OG, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed. 11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted and everyone's courage failed because of you, for the LORD your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.

What does the Text say?
Joshua sends two spies into Jericho to check it out; they end up at Rahab’s house, a prostitute [inner keeper] who hides them. In exchange for hiding them and not telling where they are, she ask that she and her family be spared from the Israelites when they come to conquer the city-the spies agree-a scarlet cord from the window will be the means of identification. The spies come back and tell Joshua that the Lord has put fear into the hearts of the king and people of Jericho

The Israelites prepare to cross the Jordan River into the Promised Land, the priest carry the Ark of the Covenant and go before the army, and as soon as the feet of the priest touch the water, the water starts to back up and the priest cross on dry land to the middle of the Jordan River. The people and the army then cross the Jordan River and when everyone is across-the priest come out and the river starts to flow again.

Joshua instructs twelve men, one from each tribe of Israel to pick up a stone from the middle of the Jordan River and to place all twelve stones together in monument as a memorial for future generations to see and remember how God dried up the Jordan River so the Israelites could pass into the Promised Land on dry ground to start to conquer it.
Rahab ends up in the linage of King David, in the linage of Jesus the Christ
What does this mean for me today?
People should not be judged as a group, they need to be taken one at a time

God is willing to use anyone. Regardless of their past if they are willing to submit to and follow Him.

God is the extreme power in the world, no one is like Him, He goes before those who follow Him to affect the outcome of confrontations, He has power to influence decisions, before they happen, He has power to change people and He has power over all things, including the power to control nature.

God always go before us into any confrontation if we let Him, and if we are willing to set aside our fears and follow, He will show us how He makes amazing things happen in our lives.

It is important to record and remember the things that God has done in the past to help us trust Him with the future. It is important that we teach those who are younger so that they can develop dependences on God in their lives.

It goes without saying that I am THANKFUL to God for His Mercy, Grace, Love and Restoration. Likewise I am Thankful for my wife Christine, my daughters and their husbands, my granddaughters and the rest of my family. I am Thankful of my heritage –American/Kentuckian.

I am equally Thankful for our church, Kenwood Fellowship, our spiritual community our spiritual family. I am thankful for our Korean brothers and sisters and the blessing they have been to our ministry.

I am Thankful for friends that add a special flavor to life, I am Thankful for the opportunities I have had to pastor, teach, coach and counsel a great number of people when they were teens and I am thankful to see the amazing adults many have become-pastors, teachers, doctors, nurses and such.

But I don’t want to get stuck just in the past of things I am Thankful for because I am Thankful and look forward to the future. I look forward to Pastor Lee being here and ministering together, I look forward to what God is has planned for us – and yes I do see the potential for some very difficult times ahead, I know that like in the past God will be with us every step of the way so I have no fear. Our past gives us a foundation to build on, the future gives us hope and our present gives us opportunities to know and enjoy God in a deeper way every moment-FOR THAT I AM THANKFUL
