16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.19 Do not quench the Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-19/ NLT

16 Be full of joy all the time. 17 Never stop praying. 18 In everything give thanks. This is what God wants you to do because of Christ Jesus. 19 Do not try to stop the work of the Holy Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-19 / MSG

16-18 Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live. 19 Don’t suppress the Spirit, and don’t stifle those who have a word from the Master.

What does it say?

We have not stopped giving thanks for you as we pray; asking God the Father that He would give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you may grow in your knowledge of God that your hearts will be flooded with the understanding and confident in the hope God gives to those He has called and given a glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power that He has for you. This is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and made Him ruler over everything-including the Church-His Body where He fills everyone with Himself.

I fall to my knees and pray to the Father—Creator of everything asking that He empowers you with inward strength through His Spirit-That your heart will be a home for Jesus-that His roots will go deep down inside your inner being giving you His love and making you strong. I pray that you will experience His love, even though you will not understand all of It, and that you will be make and feel complete in God-who does infinitely more than we can imagine-all glory through our lives to Him both individually and in the Church-His Body

We have not stopped praying since we heard about you-asking God that He will give you complete knowledge of His Will and give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then you will live always to honor and please God and will produce every kind of good fruit-even while you are getting closer to God and learning more about Him every day. We pray that you will be strengthened with His glorious power so that you will develop endurance and patience-that you will be filled with joy-always giving thanks to God the Father who has enabled us who follow Him to share in His inheritance forever

How Does This Apply to Me-Today?
Prayer is the crying out to God from our heart to His. Prayer focuses outward not inward, it is submitting to God and agreeing that He knows our mind-our heart –our needs, without anything being hidden. Prayer is the attitude of a heart-mind open to God, enjoying His presence and asking for His intervention into our lives. Prayer is when monologue turns to dialogue, words becomes intimate conversation with our Creator Who loves us and has a plan for us

Type of prayer using the acronym of A.C.T.S.

A-adoration / worshipping God for who He is

C-confession / of sins, of falling short

T-thanksgiving / for all God has done

S-supplication / for others

Prayer is communication with God-talking with Him-listening to Him-looking for Him as He interacts in our lives both in us and through us to others

Psalm 4:1-8

1 Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? 3 Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him. 4 Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent 5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the Lord. 6 Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us.7 Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound.8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Psalm 41:1-4

1 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.2 The Lord protects and preserves them— they are counted among the blessed in the land— he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.3 The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness. 4 I said, “Have mercy on me, Lord;  heal me, for I have sinned against you.”

And the God of peace will be with you.
