Memory Verses: Isaiah 26:3-4
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

Now think about the Scripture Readings Mark 4:35-41,
It’s been a long day, Jesus and his disciples decide to go to the other shore of the Sea of the Sea of Galilee. The disciples are navigating the small boat, and Jesus lies down and goes to sleep. The sea starts to grow restless, a storm is coming, the water starts to get choppy and the waves grow larger and larger and the small boats starts to rock, the disciples are terrified. They come to Jesus, waking Him up and shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are going to drown?”

Jesus, awaken from his nap commands the wave and storm to cease, to be silent and still, and immediately, the wind stops, the sea is calm, the boat is no longer rocking and swaying-there is a great calm, the Jesus turns to His disciples and asked them, “why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
The disciples were still terrified but now for a different reason –“Who is this Man, that even the winds and waves obey Him?”

Think about the Nooma video we just watched?

The writer of the story tells of a time when his family went camping and one morning early, he straps his son on his back in a back pack and takes an extended walk through the wood. The day is beautiful, he takes in the trees around him, the smell and aroma of the forest, the sound of the wind through the trees, the scurring of small animals all around-it is as close to the perfect day as he can imagine, and after a while he and his son start back to their camp sight, but the scene around them is quickly changing.

At first there are one, two maybe three rain drops but the sky is getting dark quickly, the wind is picking up through the forest and soon it is a down poor. The author of the story, puts the hood on his son’s sweat shirt over his son’s head, he covers his own head and quickens his pace back to camp.

As he makes his way back to camp he starts to hear his son, first a whimper, then and increase in the noise he is making and suddenly his son is in full blown screaming mode-frightened, wet and starting to tribble.

It is at this moment, that the author stops, takes his son out of his back pack and pulls him up close to his chest, covering his son with his arms and his sweat shirt and as he continues his journey back to camp, taking the moment to quiet his son by telling him over and over, don’t be afraid, daddy has you, he knows the way home, we are going to make it-

And So for me-

What a perfect example of how an earthly father, one who is flawed and falls short of God’s desires for him, show this great love, compassion and protection for his earthly son. Translate this to God as our heavenly Father and how He shows us His great love, compassion and protection. God has a great desire for us to draw close to Him and for us to put our faith in Him. So often we don’t even consider that God is there and that God cares for us, we like the disciples in the boat only see the storm, and we become afraid-we forget that the Creator of the Universe is right here with us. He knows our situation and He already has a plan as to how to get us through what we are going through.
As we approach this week, take time to reread these notes, reread the scripture memory verses and reread the additional bible verses, all the time asking, God how can you apply these truths in my life so that I might move closer to you and become a better ambassador for you where you have planted me

ADDITIONAL BIBLE VERSES TO REVIEW
Romans 5:1-5 (NLT)
1Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. 2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. 3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Matthew 7:24-27
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. (NIV)
Psalm 34:17
Is anyone crying for help? God is listening, ready to rescue you.
Psalm 55:17
Evening, morning, and noon, I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
Psalm 72:12
For He will rescue the poor who cry out and the afflicted who have no helper.
Psalm 84:2
I long and yearn for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh cry out for the living God.
Psalm 88:1
O LORD, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before you.
Deuteronomy 1:3
1 There you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.
James 1:3-9 (NLT)
3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. 5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do. 9 Believers who are poor have something to boast about, for God has honored them.
