Memory Verse: Galatians 5: 13-15
13 For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. 14 For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another.

What Does the Scripture Say?

As followers of Christ we have been set FREE from the power of sin, and we should live like it-not allowing it to own us. We have been saved by the grace of God, through believing in His Son, Jesus and not by keeping as set of rules. If we go back to trying to justify ourselves before God and man by keeping the rules, the God’s grace has no value to us. The only that counts is FAITH in Jesus. The enemy is trying to confuse us, and he even uses other people, even good people to try to bind us up by keeping these rules as a means of our righteousness, those people should stop.

Our freedom is in FAITH in Jesus, but that does not give us the right to indulge in sin, we are to demonstrate Jesus in us by loving our neighbor.

If we live by being guided by the SPIRIT God puts in us, we will not want to gratify the sin nature, because the sin nature in all men and the SPIRIT of God in us are opposing forces.
We are not to give into the acts of the sin nature but are to demonstrate the FRUIT of the SPIRIT in us to others by living out loud, love, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. We are not to be conceited, provoking or envying others-God will take care of us.

What does this mean for me today?

We have the privilege of living in a country that from its founding has demonstrated many Godly principles in our founding fathers, in our laws and government, in the way citizens and even foreigner are treated. We are by no means perfect in following God, but we have a heritage that has a basis in a demonstrated desire by many of our leaders, to try to live –as a people-like God would have us live.

But, our government, our laws and even our leaders will not change us or free us from the individual sin-nature that each of us is born with. They cannot make us righteous before God and in fact, my mask over our need before God to make an individual commitment to God. To be right before God we must acknowledge our own sin, we must repent of that sin and we must accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Without this act we can still do some good deeds, but we will fall short of God’s Command for us to be saved according to His standard.

We have been offered freedom from the sin nature we are born with and we have been offered the presence of God, through His SPIRIT, in us to guide us, strengthen us, give us an internal peace, give us purpose and contentment, but we must seek it. The freedom that God offers will change your life-will give you a new life, will connect you people to help you in a physical way and will free you from fear of things in the life even into eternity because in inviting Jesus into your life, give you an eternal life with Him

Always keep in mind that there are two kinds of freedom, freedom of the body and freedom of the mind/heart. Mankind can have an effect on the freedom of the body, control where you live, what goods and services you can have and even where and if you work-but control of your heart and mind can only come if you surrender them.
True freedom involves a conscience decision to give yourself to God, to develop an on-going relationship with Him, surrendering your will to His will and allowing Him to direct-In God, His freedom of our heart and mind helps us endure anything mankind does to us
