Message –“The Movement of God”
Scripture Reading: Acts 1:1-14 / 2:1-21 / 32-47
Memory Verses / I Peter 2:9-10 (NLT)
9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, and God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.10 “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.

(MSG)
9-10 But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.

The Message of the Text:
The disciples had plans for their future and they were ready for Jesus to institute those plans, “overpower the Romans, establish Your Kingdom now, give us our place in authority, but Jesus had other plans-He was leaving them in a physical presence and something NEW, the Power of the Holy Spirit was not to empower and lead them-they were to wait for it in Jerusalem-

The Holy Spirit is poured out on the 120 people in the upper room who were faithfully seeking the next step from their Lord, Jesus. The followers of Jesus were completely consumed with the Holy Spirit and went into the streets to share their experience.

When the followers of Jesus were challenged, Peter stands up and explains what has happened to these followers of Jesus,

Peter goes on to explain that Jesus is the Promised Messiah, He explains what Jesus has done and the new found power or energy that can be experienced in having Jesus in your life, new believers are added.

The new followers are empowered by the Spirit of God, and they use this new presence this new power to reach out to others, they spend time together, seeking God, enjoying each other and their commitment to each other becomes attractive to those around them. The spiritual community we call the Church expanded as those who saw how the disciples of Jesus lived and heard their message of Love, Grace, Peace and Forgiveness could have a profound effect on their lives.

How Does This Apply to me today?

 The power of Pentecost is found in the message of Pentecost, repent, be baptized and unite with other believers
 God wants to free us from the things that enslave us, the chains that ties us up the weights that hold us down
 The secret to Spiritual Power is found in a growing relationship with God, through Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit
 The secret is staying free and enjoying that freedom in found in
Relationship with other believers
 We were created to be in community with each other

Some Personal Thoughts to Consider

1. What things am I holding on to, or that are holding on to be that I need to be free from
2. Can I accept the simple process of giving those things to God, and not taking them back
3. Are their people in my life that I can draw strength from to continue in this new freedom
4. Are their people in my life that can draw strength from me to continue in this new freedom
5. Are their people or even things in my life that I need to let go of
6. Are their people in my life I need to apologize to, are their people in my life I need to forgive, including myself-then move on
7. What can I do this week to 1st draw closer to God and 2nd draw closer to some else

DO YOU SEE THE REALITY OF GOD, HIS PRESENCE IN YOU?
